Paraglide wins Aging 2.0 Halifax pitch competition
Paraglide took home the top prize at the Aging 2.0 Halifax, Nova Scotia pitch competition during the organization's Global Innovation Challenge and Innovation Showcase on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019 at the Halifax Central Library.
The award, selected by a panel of expert judges, recognizes start-up innovations and technologies aimed at assisting seniors to age well in Atlantic Canada and throughout the world.
Winning the Halifax-based competition secures Paraglide one of five spots in the international pitch competition at Aging 2.0 Boston's Revolutionize conference on October 24 & 25, 2019, where we'll be competing alongside companies from Boston, New York, Tokyo and San Francisco!
"It's so exciting to have the opportunity to take Paraglide, a made-in-Nova-Scotia technology that will completely change how people are repositioned in wheelchairs, to Boston - the Silicon Valley of Aging," said Matthew MacKenzie, inventor of Paraglide.
The other five innovative products showcased during the pitch event included Tenera, eChart, Novalte, HomeExcept and Nxtgencare.
The afternoon's Innovation Showcase included presentations by Jacklyn Carter & Margaret Szabo of Northwood, Xiaodan Pang of NS GovLab, Ron Swan of Lawtons Home HealthCare, Martyn Sibbald of CAA Atlantic, Chris Pelham of Redefining Retirement, Tony Ingram of Axem Neurotechnology, and Glen Hougan of NSCAD.
